With Leontine, we had a couple of different looks and outfits we wanted to get from our time together, and this is part 2. Check here for the natural and laid back photos, and where I introduce her gorgeous hair. I simply adore her grace and poise, as well as her infectious smile, isn’t it to die for?!
But below are some of my absolute favourite images of late! Leontine and I are a great team, if I don’t say so myself, and can’t wait till we work together again in the future!
Leontine contacted me wanting to do a Model Test for her modeling portfolio, I was honoured and touched that she would contact me, and couldn’t wait to start planning her session. We wanted to make sure we got some natural looking shoots with multiple outfits to give her lots of diversity within her portfolio. She was so sweet showing up with a suitcase over flowing with clothing, an adorable laugh, and the most amazing hair I have ever seen!
There are two parts to this post as there were just too many photos to chose from, so keep your eyes open for part 2. Leontine was just a delight to work with and we’re already planning her next session, I cannot wait for it! Keep your eyes open for Leontine, cause I’m sure you’ll be seeing more of her, and not just from my blog! I can’t say much, but it’s super exciting!
We originally met at a Wedding Industry party at The Collage Hotel in Amsterdam, back in April, and we instantly clicked. We sipped champagne and giggled until we both felt that the night had come to a close, but not before we tasted some delicious pannekoeken. And we’ve kept in touch ever since. Susan runs this cute and adorable stationary company called Vanilla Pod Design, everything is custom and handmade, and she is brillant at what she does!
After the weather ruined our plans of photographing her in London, we decided to take it back to Amsterdam, where she is now residing, and everything was just perfect! She brought all the little items that she likes to collect, pebbles, rocks, and seastars, the little things close to her heart. As well as a Union Jack and clogs, two items that represent where she is from, and where she is now.
So while we photographed all the little things about her, we walked around her beautiful neighboughood, chatting and laughing. Yes, laughing out loud, so everyone could hear!
The light was fleeting, dipping below the horizon. She worked late that night at work and needed to pack for her weekend in Budapest, but she decided that playing in the light was more fun. And it was, along the canal in Den Bosch we played and laughed till the light said good night.
She sat on the door stoop, looking at me with wide eyes. “I’m not too sure where to look”, she said. Don’t worry, I tell her, just breathe and laugh….and laugh she did. Shy and nervous at first, and then a full out laugh. In that moment I found her, the way she turns her head to the side, slightly hiding her face. I loved those moments. They are some of my favourite photos.
We walked around beautiful Angel, surrounded by delicious looking restaurants and a huge array of antique and thrift shops. The light was simply magical and we just played in the dipping sun. During the shoot I realized I had photographed her sister, her best friend, and a friend from her University days but never her, I was so excited to have her in front of my camera, cause I think she is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, inside…and out. I’m not lying, Rachel is truly awesome.

When we were in between outfit changes and hair + make up Alanna and I decided that we’d take some headshots of each other and man was it ever fun to do something on the other side of the camera. Eventually lovely Scarlett joined us in the fun as well and we ended up doing some pretty silly stuff like Scarlett jumping off the couch. It’s one of my favourite photos of her as you can tell she loves to have fun but she takes her work seriously all the while laughing and having a great time!
I loved working with these two oh-so-much that I wish I could box them up and bring them to Holland with me and rock Europe with our mad skills.
The first part of the distressed bride featured her pining for her lost love than becoming strong and ready to take on the world. Part two features her remembering and than forgetting. The first few photos in this set makes me super excited as the look is not something I’m used to shooting, but I love the feeling from them. The darkness, the pops of red, and the beautiful barn.

About a month ago I received an email from a wonderful make-up artist, Scarlett, asking if I would be interested in photographing a just for us shoot. Of course I jumped at the opportunity, thrilled with the idea of doing something a little different. She wanted to do a trash the dress shoot with some fun props and hair, as well as a cool chick. The idea was a distressed bride jilted by her groom and how she deals with the fact that she will no longer be married.
She purchased a used wedding dress from craigslist, enlisted one of her assistants to model, and everything fell together. And I mean everything. It had been raining buckets and buckets leading up to the shoot that I was nervous we’d have to cancel, but while I was driving to Scarlett’s studio, the sun started shinning and the clouds parted just a bit to give us an amazing dramatic sky.
I’m so excited to showcase these images that I had to break it up into two parts, so enjoy the wonderful Brittany trashing a dress!

I’ve been dddddddying to feature this shoot for sometime, and I’m so excited that the time has finally come. You’ve seen Kelly showcased on the blog and website time and time again, but I think this has been one of my favourite sessions with her. We discussed the look and feeling of this session, both knowing exactly what we wanted.
First, the outfit. We both have identical bridesmaids dresses hanging in our closets from a past wedding, and figured we couldn’t just let it hang there never to be worn, so we decided to use it. Second, props. Kelly’s late grandma left her some beautiful furs and a vintage suitcase, so we knew that we should incorporate something close to Kelly’s heart.
And third, the location. Well, this one was harder as it rained a lot around the time we had scheduled the session. We went from location to location trying to nail down one that would work best. Fort Langley came through for us, as did the weather.
I’m so proud of Kelly, she has been working her butt off for the past I dunno how many years to become the fantastic social worker that she is, and I was so excited to watch her walk across the stage to accept her degree, fist pump and all.

Agata + Monica have been friends for so long that they are more like sisters then friends, giggling, teasing, and playing dress up before going out for the night. Before I left Perth I really wanted to photograph these two, two beautiful girls who are so comfortable with each other is my cup of tea!
So they picked Mister and I up from the city and drove us to the University of Western Australia for their session. The light there was amazing, their laughter was intoxicating, and their friendship was just lovely!
Meet Agata + Monica!
Earlier this year I woke up one day and told myself I was no longer afraid, that I was strong enough and good enough that I had no reason to be afraid. So that day I started meeting and chatting with other local photographers, who I originally thought I was inferior to meet, and it brought me Peggy.
Peggy is an inspiration, she has travelled the world, has a wonderful marriage, two cute children, and has developed her own photography business over the past 15 years! In a time where you feel like you’re meeting people who have just started a business like myself, it’s so nice to meet other business owners who have experienced so much more.
I wanted to stretch myself some more and worked with Peggy to do a shoot, just for her. She wrote me this very detailed email describing everything about her, from things she used to do (Riding the No. 14 bus) to things she loves to do now (running and going to a corporate job a couple times a week just to feel good!). I loved the email and soaked up all the information because it gave us something to work on for her shoot.
I love stylized shoots, and can’t wait to do more of them! For Peggy’s we walked around Gastown, shot in Beat Street Records on Hastings, and waited for the bus, just like Peggy used to do, but hotter!

Some of the images above are hers and it was so fun going through all our images because sometimes I couldn’t tell if she took them or if I did, her eye is so similar to mine, I just love it!
Niki emailed me saying that her and her husband were flying out to Vancouver in the summer to attend a wedding and she wanted to get some portraits of them while they were here. After a few emails back and forth, a few blog comments left by Niki, I honestly could not wait till I met them both!
She arrived in Vancouver and went straight away to find the perfect location and I’m so happy that she chose Cleveland Dam! I had never been there and once I rolled up it took my breath away, seriously I almost couldn’t breathe! The mountains rolling into the lake, the forest with the sun shinning through, and cliffs that just beg you to leap from them…just perfect!
But hanging out with Niki + John is what eventually took my breath away! After 21 years of marriage they still laugh, hold hands, he nuzzles in the crook of her neck, he leans towards her in a protective way, and the way they look at each other! 21 years and they are still this much in love, this is why I love love!
