Vancouver Family Photography: Atwal Family

After many phone calls, numerous emails, and months of conversation I was finally able to meet the Atwal family. Gagan called me while Adam and I were in Montreal saying she wanted to schedule a session that would concentrate on her daughter Naya who had just turned 5 months old. Gagan wanted to capture what her daughter looked like, her expressions, her movements, and her personality at her young age before it slipped by.

I showed up on their door step on a beautiful Saturday morning ready capture her daughter. I walked in and saw 2 pairs of beautiful brown eyes looking at me trying to size me up, wondering if they could trust me. Gabe was asking to be lifted and tickled in about 2 minutes after I showed him that I think little kids are cool, but I think he took a liking to me because I had a camera. Naya on the other hand, continued to just look and observe. Finally after some time with the two of us sitting in silence she broke out a smile and a little coo, I knew we were going to be friends! Usually just let the family interact with each other while I step back and capture organic and intimate moments, but since Gagan had a specific request I set up a ‘mock’ studio on their neighbour’s lawn across the street from them.

Naya was the centre of attention most of the morning. I love this girl! All her curls, her cute facial expressions, and her cute little baby body!
