I’m so excited for March - because it’s my birthday month, but also because something big and exciting is happening with Adley Studio starting on the 1st and I can’t wait to share it with you! I figured since it was my birthday month, I’d share a present with you too!

Marvelous idea don’t you think?!!

For my wedding I had 3 different pairs and loved every single one of them, and when Adam and I moved in together I asked him to make me a closet for them because they were all over the house.

I’m a little obsessed with shoes! It’s been awhile since I’ve purchased a pair, and I can feel the itch growing, but today while I was looking around I came across this image, and if we ever move into a custom built house, I think I want my shoes to be on display like a work of art.

We spent 5 days in Sun Peaks with Adam’s family at the end of January and had a fabulous time relaxing, catching up, boarding, snowshoeing, watching every single Canuck’s game, and eating delicious food!

I’ve been exploring the slopes of Sun Peaks resort for 14 years now, and just realized I’ve been visiting one of my favorite places on earth for half of my life now.  How weird is that?! Not only that I turn 28 this year, but something so special, with so many amazing memories, where many of my most dear relationships blossomed happened on the slopes of this mountain, and it’s been a monumental place in my heart for so long!

Mike brought this super awesome remote control Helicopter which I tried to control, but I flew it into the ceiling one too many times that I was kind of banned from playing with it.

Mister + and I went snowshoeing to rest my head after hitting my head on the slopes the day before to get me out and about and to explore the beautiful mountain. Sandy is the family dog and we love her to pieces, and isn’t my Mister handsome?! Yep, he sure is!

We went to the top of one of the mountains to take some photos. On the right is Adam + I being nice for the camera, on the left is what we’re usually like goofy and completely silly!

I purchased an awesome camera last fall and Adam decided that we’d take it up on the hill to get some video of us and Mike enjoying the mountain. I a video together of myself, because I’m super goofy, and well…Mike + Adam were all about skiing and I was all about being a goof.

I tend to go through phases where I blog a whole lot, then then not at all.  And the reason why I do this?!  Well I write when I feel like I have something interesting to say, something that might be entertaining, or something that has been on my mind for awhile.  And lately, I’ve had nothing.  Usually I walk around thinking “I can’t wait to blog about this”.  But right now, I got nothing!  I know I’m sorry.  Soon I know there will be a whole bunch to write about

Tomorrow we’re heading up to Sun Peaks for some relaxation and snowboarding and I can’t wait to hit the slopes!  When we return I hope to have a lot more to talk about!

Happy Birthday Ariel!

Ariel was my first newborn session and I loved every single minute of it and I can’t believe she’s turning one today.  So every one wish Ariel a happy birthday and send her some love!

I’ve sluggishly pulled myself out of the holidays and told myself get my butt back to work already.  As much as I wanted to allow myself just one more day of book reading and snuggles in bed I knew I couldn’t do it any longer.  I did however stay in bed till 10:30 this morning, trying to linger as long as I could

Once I got up I decided to stay with the spirit of giving that we’ve all been consumed with the past month or so and offer a free mini maternity session to anyone who is pregnant and due in February, March or April when you book your newborn session with me. Who can say no to a free session and amazing maternity images on DVD for free?

If you’re interested in a session for yourself, your wife, or your friend, contact me ASAP because space fills up quickly!

And because I’m in the giving mood, you got a little glimpse of the fantastic changes coming to Adley Studio. I can hardly hold myself together I’m so excited!

This is one of my faults, always looking towards the future thinking about the next moment and forgetting about enjoying the moment I’m living in right now, so I told myself to write a blog post the next morning about all the things I need to enjoy right now:

The sound of my husbands heart beat, it is one of the sweetest sounds to my ear letting me know he is alive and healthy.

A job that makes me jump out of bed each morning! Seriously, I never thought it would happen to me.  I’m a very lucky girl.

That my family is still together, that we get along so well now that we’re older and a whole lot wiser - family dinners are such an awesome time.

That this time in my life is a time of happy moments, a time of reflection of God’s answered prayers, of easy living, and a time to prepare me for when the rough patches arrive - cause I know we’ll hit one eventually.

The peace and clarity that I live in…it’s something I’ve prayed for and it’s such a wonderful feeling to have.

That I’m alive and healthy and can make plans for tomorrow, because I know it’s going to be an awesome year!

Take a moment to reflect - believe me, it will bring a smile to your face.

I can’t believe how quickly Christmas is approaching, can you believe it?  I wrote to one of my friends saying how it seems like Christmas creeps up quicker and quicker each year but it doesn’t come with the same anticipation it held when we were little.  Maybe it’s because I’m not practicing for weeks on end for a Christmas production, or making homemade cards and ornaments, or I’m not scouring the toy cataloge thinking of what to put on my list. I haven’t quite figured out why…

However, even though it creeps up quicker each year, each year I notice I care less and less about the productions and presents, but more about spending time with the friends and family who mean the most to me. It’s about taking that walk in the pouring rain, about calling your dad and laugh about how mom is the most difficult person to find a present for but knowing she’ll love what we get her, about inviting friends over for dinner and polishing off 5 bottles of wine and all giddy with Christmas cheer, about creating the warmth and love that we’ve had all our lives in our own home.

Home is where my friends and family come and gather, and how richly God has decked me with thee!

In between all of the spirit of Christmas, I’ve been shooting and editing like crazy for the Holiday season.  I’ve been editing one of my favorite sessions and came across this image and it took my breath away.

Isn’t she stunning?!

Oh, and I’m in love with my 35mm 1.4 lens…love it!
