What is your life made up of?

Yesterday I curled up with some fresh fruit and put a set of headphones over my head to soak up a few talks on TED Talks. I’ve been following TED for awhile now and always feel inspired and encouraged whenever I have the chance to sit in on one. Back in December I had the pleasure of watching the TEDxAmsterdam Women and joining the after party with the speakers who had discussed Heros and Women. Speakers like Kelly Cutrone, Shannon Fitzgerald from MTV, and numerous other women from The Netherlands gave such moving and empowering talks that I was on a high for a couple of days!

So yesterday, with my pineapple and bright green apples, I loaded up on a few talks before settling in for the rest of the evening and came across two that I found powerful, moving, and also caused me to stop and think. They were exactly what I needed to hear and I knew I needed to share it with you as well.

So grab yourself some tea and settle in for a bit. You’ll be inspired and perhaps know which way to head!

Growing into your potential

A flicker from my vanilla and coffee bean candle came across my vision while the winter rain beat against my window. The days have been gray and dreary but with the glow of the candle and a green tea in my white ceramic mug I let the words flow from the blue ink of my pen onto the white paper. Days were spent in silence while working out the fine details and goals for this upcoming year. Desires that were buried in my heart poured open and flooded my pages and mind. I could not contain them any longer and I finally set them free. I allowed them space and a place within my world.

Desires and dreams that I want to see made a reality.

I envisioned what it would look like, this reality and I realized it was beautiful and lovely. I envisioned how I would feel, the aromas surrounding me, the journey that lead me there. I saw all that I was capable of achieving, being, and seeing and I wanted all of it. I saw all the love I was capable of giving and felt a tightening in my chest at the thought of giving back to those who have fought endlessly for me and beside me.

I saw the potential of us and knew I was given the ability to make it happen.

We have the potential within us to make our world more amazing, our dreams reality, and goals successes!

What are you envisioning for this year, what dreams and goals are you wanting to see become reality?

Looking Back at 2011

I’m sitting in my dark chocolate leather chair, French music playing over the speakers, and a green tea in a white ceramic mug while I think about this past year. I am astounded at the items I’ve crossed off my list, the goals I’ve achieved, and some of the hardships I’ve endured. It has definitely been a year of learning, exploring, and stretching who I am as a person and business woman.

Last year I was ice skating high up on a mountain thinking about the year ahead and the adventure that was laid out before us. I was dreaming of touring around Europe with black luggage catching trains and planes to exotic places. I envisioned us curling into each other on a couch surrounded by candles and wine from Italy and fresh cheese from France in our Dutch home. I was dreaming of taking my camera and photographing women in France, in London, in Amsterdam. I was dreaming and not really expecting any of it to happen.

Some people have asked what I’m really proud of this year in my business and I have to say that 2011 proved to me that dreams do come true, when I work for them. I’m proud of the hard work and the late nights I stayed up for to accomplish the goals I envisioned. There were a lot of tears and many times I felt like all the doors were closed and the world was against me, but looking back it has been worth every single bead of sweat. This year has taught me that I can’t sit and wait for things to come to me but I have to make them happen. I’m also really proud of the time I set aside for defining and working on my business to define it even further than just being a boudoir photographer. I’ve realized who my client is, what she likes, and what she is looking for. I also know I love photographing women and they love getting their boudoir images done, but there are some out there who want the same experience but more of a beauty fashion look than sexy.

I was also asked, if I could change anything in my business would I? And yes, there are a few. I’m not very good with answering email. I read every single one, but responding faster is one thing I’ve realized I need to get better at. Also for finding a system that is simple and straight forward so that when my assistant needs to come in and do work, one day, everything will be easy to understand and they can easily step in. I also wish I wasn’t so afraid, gosh most of my tears and frustrations were from me telling myself I wasn’t the right person for the job, how wrong I was!

So what am I looking forward to in 2012? There are some things that I want concentrate on and fine tune in this next year, like getting on top of my crazy Inbox and treating my clients like royalty. Expanding my portfolio and creating more art and editorial looking images. I want to continue travelling and exploring. I want to photograph women all over Europe in luxury hotel rooms and beautifully designed homes. I also want a studio space to share with other creative women where we can collaborate and share ideas, encourage and support each other, and sip champagne at the end of the week before we head to our next adventure. These dreams might not come to fruition in 2012, but I’m going to work to lay a strong foundation so that they eventually do. This year will be about creating stronger relationships, better systems and work-flows, and living out my dream life to it’s fullest.

What has 2011 looked like for you, are you proud of everything you’ve accomplished and realize the hardships were there to make you realize what you truly want? How about 2012 what are you looking forward to?

Christmas 2011

It’s amazing how many things have changed in this past year! Last year I was wrapping presents up with diligent care excited for the receiver to discover their gift and this year I’m exploring two beautiful cities in Austria instead of gathering around a tree.

Christmas is my favourite season and I’m so happy to be enjoying it somewhere new and on a new adventure, but there is a part of me that misses home, running to my stocking first thing Christmas morning and helping my mum with Christmas morning breakfast while my dad prepares us coffee.

However, as much as I miss home, Mister and I are creating new memories and new traditions that we’ll cherish for years to come. So we’re off to enjoy this beautiful Christmas eve in Salzburg, sing Christmas carols in a gorgeous baroque cathedral, and wish everyone we pass a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas from Austria!!

make the days amazing

There are days, whether you own a business, run around around in high heels getting a different sized dress for the 100th person, sit at a desk for someone else, or fold that tiny little shirt for what feels like the 10th time, when you just want to throw your hands up in the air and say ‘Forget it, I don’t care any more’. That the appeal of your bed, a rock, a drink even is more appealing than the task in front of you, cause you honestly don’t want to move forward, not even an inch.

But on those days, when the weight of the world is so heavy and you’re on the brink of tears, is when you need to move harder and faster then ever before. Because if you are truly passionate in your life it won’t be all rainbows and butterflies, you will be tested and asked how much do you want this?

I am asked this more times than I can count and there are days when I am truly inches away from throwing my hands in the air and walking away. But then I realize that my heart will be broken into so many pieces that I’d never find my again, because this life I’m creating is the one I was destined to live!

So in light of those dark dreary days, let’s work harder and faster to make those days amazing! We have a life to live and a passion burning in our hearts!

Indulging in my sensual side in the kitchen

When I met Mister I was useless in the kitchen. Seriously I couldn’t make toast or a decent dinner that didn’t include taking him out for dinner. He would do most of the cooking and surprised me with fresh and healthy meals! For a time it was lovely until I realized I wanted to surprise him and enjoy a meal that I planned, shopped, and prepared just for him.

It took a lot of practice and I ruined a lot of dishes along the way, but now I can’t wait to indulge in some scrumptious dishes made for him, family, and friends! This year we’re hosting an intimate international Christmas party for some friends this coming weekend and I’m excited about spending some time in the kitchen and creating some dishes full of Christmas spirit!

I’ve been collecting different dishes and ideas on my Pinterest page, and hope to spend some time nourishing my sensual side with some flour, a hot oven, and creating a complete mess in the kitchen!

How are you in the kitchen, do you find it relaxing, not your thing, something you have yet to learn and enjoy?

Dreams into Actions

When I started 750words, I thought it would be a place to encourage my writing or a place to write my to-do list. I had no idea that it would turn into something much more magical! Every day I’m excited to sit down and write to let my thoughts become unleashed and allow them to wander into places of my heart that I didn’t know were alive. Emotions and dreams have flooded into my consciousness that I had no idea where there before and I’m so excited because it’s changed me!

In the midst of writing I found what I truly desire and am passionate about. I should have known all along, because it’s appeared in my writing before but I just brushed it off, but now I can no longer ignore it.

2012 is bringing a new service that I’m really excited about! I’ll be hosting Boudoir Party Experiences once a month in different cities around Europe, the 2012 Boudoir Tour! The first one is in Amsterdam in January with information being released next week, but if you want to know what is going on before hand, sign up here!

But what I’m really excited about is the Private Boudoir sessions! These will take place in a gorgeous hotel or a beautifully designed home, but the exciting part is what happens before you even step into the room.

We’ll meet in person, or via skype if we’re unable to meet due to travel distances, to talk about want most out of your life; whether it be a more sensual life, steps to take to achieve dreams, getting that promotion at work, or finally owning that Birkin bag you’ve always wanted! I really want to work with you to ignite your dreams and passions!

Private Boudoir Session, Lifestyle coaching, sensual boudoir, sensual life, passion and sex

I believe incorporating the two together is going to help bring you closer to your dreams and your boudoir session will feel more of a celebration for you! We’re going to meet numerous times before hand so that we can create a plan and keep you accountable to them, and then we’re going to celebrate your accomplishments as well, preferably over a glass of wine and some fine cheese!

These sessions will be for those who want to take action and live a passionate and sensual life, who want someone to encourage and support them along away, and celebrate with them too! More details will be coming soon, but I’m so excited to get started and working with you!

I am so honoured and excited to feature this woman’s photos, her session took place during the Boudoir Party in the French Chateau! It’s a session I’ll cherish for a long time! Each boudoir session is tailored for them so that it is unique and personal for each women according to what they are wanting to embrace or embody. This gorgeous woman was all about accepting herself, her body, and celebrating it.

Her lingerie encompassed two different colours for two distinct stages, black for her old self and white for the new her. The way she explained it was that this boudoir session was as a marriage for herself. A ceremony of sorts. So we celebrated and filled the room with gorgeous grace, just for her.

Thank you Miss Gorgeous Grace, for sharing your images!

Christmas Wish List | Sexy Lingerie and high heels

Christmas is my favourite time of the year! Every year when September arrives I start counting down, in October I’m usually playing Christmas music and beginning of November I start planning how I’m going to decorate our home and wrap presents! Other than me counting down and starting playing Christmas music in October, this year is going to be different for us. We’re not decorating our home (as all our decorations are packed in boxes in Vancouver) because we’ll be enjoying Christmas in Austria and Christmas doesn’t truly feel like Christmas unless you’re surrounded by your family.

I’m excited that we’ll be experiencing Christmas in Austria this year, sipping on Gluhwein, walking through Christmas markets, and hopefully seeing some snow!

But since Christmas isn’t Christmas without making a wish list, here is mine! I won’t receive anything on it due to the fact that Santa doesn’t have an unlimited budget and we’ve keeping our gifts small this year…but just in case.

But tell me, what is on your Christmas Wish List this year?!

Relaxed Boudoir Photography | Amsterdam Boudoir

Wrapped in a cashmere blanket, a cup of tea, and my notebook beside me I decided to relax and unplug. After working 7 days a week for a month straight I felt my brain slowing down and I knew my body needed a break.

Sometimes I need to schedule ‘Me days’ into my agenda to remind me to take some time for myself and unplug from facebook, twitter, and other social obligations I feel I need to stay ontop of as a business owner.

So join me will you, to put some time in your agenda to relax and unplug? While you’re at it put on some sexy lingerie, pull on an over-sized sweater and just enjoy some YOU time. You deserve it!

Make your dreams come true!

Earlier this month when Mister and I were in Barcelona, we spent a lot of time walking the narrow streets and enjoying tapas while talking about life, our dreams, and where we want to go. It was an emotional couple of days of being completely honest with each other and ourselves about where this life was leading us. Since then we’ve been spending our evenings diving in even deeper with each other and it’s been such an eye opener about how in tune we are with each other and the dream-life we want to live. During one of our conversations I was amazed at how we’re already living out a piece of our dream-life and how we have made our dreams come true!

A couple of months ago I mentioned starting your own personal inspiration board and how having inspirational images tucked away somewhere or out in the open lets you know where you want to go in life. Most of my images are tucked away in a binder that sits next to me on my desk; always available for me to put more images and objects into. However, lately I’ve been using Pinterest as I spend most of my time online and instead of wasting paper to print the image, I just pin it!

Having my inspirational board available (as well as a notebook worth of notes) keeps me on track and shows me how I’m growing and narrowing my goals and dreams! I was once that girl who just drifted through life, but now I’m determined to make something out of it instead of letting it go by.

Are you a girl that just goes through life or are you making dreams and goals and seeing them come true? Do you keep an inspirational board? If you’d like to start one on Pinterest, send me an email and I’ll send you an invite, it’s so much fun to use!

But as great as it is to have an inspirational board and a notebook full of notes, it’s more important to go after your dream life! There is no point in having these images sitting around and a list of things you’d like to do in your life if you never actually act on it. So let’s put some of these things into action shall we?

In the comments below, if you’re brave enough or would like accountability, tell me one thing you’re going to do this week to make one of your dreams come true. Now, the first response might be a no or be negative. Don’t stop there, keep knocking and pushing forward!

What I did: I sent an email, totally put myself out there, offering to speak at an event next year! Crazy hey? Yea I know!
